Legal Basis Referenced in the Constitution

The constitution references the Societies Registration Act, 1860, the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance, 1961, and other applicable laws and regulations of Bangladesh.

Nature

A nonpolitical, nongovernmental, service-oriented and public-welfare organization whose income and assets are not for private benefit.

Geographic Scope

Activities may extend throughout Bangladesh and, where needed and authorized, outside Bangladesh.

Three-Tier Governance

Policy direction, advice and day-to-day administration through the Supreme Council, Advisory Council and Executive Council.

Executive Council

The constitution provides an 11-member Executive Council including President, Vice President, General Secretary, Joint General Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Organizing Secretary, Office Secretary, Publicity Secretary and members.

Financial Transparency

Recordkeeping, internal audit every six months, annual financial reporting and, when required, audit by an approved auditor.

Sources of Income

Membership fees, grants, donations, government or private assistance, projects, training, publications, consultancy and other lawful sources; foreign grants require approvals under applicable law.
